Cheap, Good, and Convenient… which two will you pick?

In today’s post I want to continue on our journey with healthy eating and nutrition. This is just as important as training one’s body to do discover one’s athletic ability. I hope you took the small challenge from the last post and recorded what you ate and drank during the week.
Are now a little more aware of what you are eating?
I know sometimes we go on auto-pilot and not realize what we eat.
What I am not going to do is talk about dieting. The truth is that dieting is only a short-term solution to a long-term issue. I want to be able to give you a guide that will help you get started eating healthier.
We all know we need to eat healthier, especially if we are looking to look and feel better and for longevity. Most of us desire to eat healthier, but we do we actually do it. Probably more often than not, we might start for a couple of days and then we tell ourselves I will make today a cheat day because I ran 15km or did 500 burpees. Then one cheat day becomes two cheat days, then becomes three, etc.
I too have been there.
What I want is to give you some tools that will help you consume the right types of food for proper nutrition and healthier eating. Now, a quick disclaimer here, is that I am not a certified nutritionist or a licensed dietitian, but a nutrition coach.
I am only giving you some tools to help you progress on discovering your athletic ability through eating healthier.
I want to give you three options in terms of eating, but you are only allowed to pick two out of the three. The first option is convenient and cheap, the second option is cheap, but good, and the third option is good and convenient.
What do I mean by these three options. Well, let me break it down.

The first option

Convenient and cheap means getting something that is fast, inexpensive, but most of the time not healthy. This will be your fast foods. Most of the fast foods are not healthy.

The second option

Good and cheap, means that you go out and to the store, wet market, select the fresh foods at a good price. The drawback of this that is that it takes more time. You have to shop, then prepare, and then cook the good foods you bought. It can be time consuming, however the foods you will be eating would be healthier for you.

The third option

Good and convenient, is that you get good produce and meats from a catering service or a food service that sends you meals already prepared or you have your own chief go out and buy your food, prepare it, and cook it for you. The drawback to both of these is that it is usually expensive. However you will save time on preparing and cooking since the food is still fresh and all you need to do is heat it up.

What are the two options are you going to choose?

Now you will need to decide which of the two options is going to work for you in your current life. This might be hard, but if you want all the benefits of being healthy, feeling good, and striving for longevity you will make that commitment. In the next post we will go over some ways on how to make this happen.
