It’s November…
It’s time to put your thinking caps on. It is time to plan. Plan for what you might say?
Well, as some of you know that in certain parts of the world, triathlon season is ending and that can only mean two things.
Cleaning out the “Pain Cave” or planning for next season.
Plan for next season, but the season is not yet over. You are right, but it is never too late to start to plan.
Who was it who said, “If you fail to plan you will plan to fail.” Oh, yeah, the guy with the same cool name, Benjamin Franklin.
It is good to start looking ahead and dream about what you would like to do in terms of races, whether that is running races, cycling races, and or triathlon races.
It is also good to reflected upon this season’s past races and see what you can do to improve. Maybe it is to improve more on the bike, the run, or the swim, maybe it is building strength by preparing your body to be fitter for next season.
Whatever it might be it is good to start thinking about it now. So, grab that pen, notepad, and calendar and start to put down some races or activities you would like to do. It does not mean you have to do them or all of them. It is just plan, but what gets written gets done, right?
So here are five helpful tips you can do to plan for next season:
- Write down the possible A-Race or A -races you want to do. Yes, you can have more than one, again this is just a plan
- Write down the possible B-Races. List as many as you want, but realistically you will have maybe up to three B races.
- Write down what might be some limiters from doing those races. Limiter are things that might prevent or limit you from doing those things.
- Just briefly, talk with your family and friends about some of your ideal races you would like to do. Getting family and friends on board now will be huge later on.
- Write down some specific goals that you will like to work on or accomplish next season.
I know I could have given you more than five tips, but I do not want to overwhelm you, especially if you still have one more race left in the season.
Next time I will talk about training in the post season.
