The word of the month is…

AWARENESS…

At Athlees Coaching we strive on helping folks discover their athletic ability and we do this through fitness and endurance sports.

But part of discovering one’s athletic ability also has to do with nutrition and healthier eating.

Proper nutrition and healthy eating is just as important as training one’s body for physical for performance, for health purposes, and longevity. In fact, I could argue that eating healthier might be more important than physical fitness.

Why?

Well what we put in our bodies directly affects how our bodies perform.

Why do we need to exercise?

Is it to lose weight, to burn fat, to look good, get stronger, faster, fitter and to be healthier? What might be the causes for us to have these goals?

Well it is probably because of what we have been feeding our bodies. Thus, if we are more aware of what we put into our bodies we might not need to exercise as much as we need too or when we do our performance and physical bodies will be much stronger and better looking.

However, when we do both, eating healthier and exercising like an athlete, we are creating for ourselves greater benefits.

I know that during this time of a global pandemic and social and racial and social injustices, many of us have been isolated at home for extended periods of time. Being at home, may have caused some of us to eat in ways that might not be as healthy as we want. Or maybe some of you have been changing the way you have been eating, which is a good thing.

What Happens Next?

Over the next few weeks or so I want bring more awareness to proper nutrition and healthier eating in order to help you discover your athletic ability through this scope. Again, exercising and healthy eating need to go together. They can’t be separated.

In order to bring you more awareness I just want you to do one simple thing this week. I would like you to record what you are eating and how much of what you are eating and even drinking. I do not want you to change anything. Just get a sheet of paper and record the foods, drinks, and the portion sizes down. There is no need to feel guilty and no need to change anything.

What I want you to do is just become more aware of what you are feeding your body. That is all I am asking of you. If you want to share, with this community feel free to share in the comment section.

In the next post I will give you some tools and insights on how to start eating healthier moving forward.

Don’t worry this will all be in baby steps.
